Dedication

On October 4th, our family was blessed to be able to take part in a parent / child dedication service at our church, Austin Stone.  This ceremony is an opportunity for Drew and me to dedicate ourselves to lovingly and obediently raise our boys in accordance with the commands of the Bible and the guidance of the church body.  We also publically dedicate our boys to God.  In response, the church body present agrees to come along side us to support us and help teach the boys.

Overseeing the dedication is our great Pastor of Children’s Ministry, John Murchison (standing next to Drew & Jasper).  Drew and I have been overwhelmingly pleased with the ministry to children John oversees, what a great staff of volunteer teachers he has recruited and the overall mission he has established for the ministry.  It’s great!  Jasper has grown in his understanding of God and Jesus and loves going to church.

You might notice that Benjamin is very interested in what’s on the jumbotron versus what John is saying or the massive crowd in front of him.IMG_6704

Our life verse for our boys (Philippians 1:9-11) was on the screen along with photos of the boys as John introduced each of them.IMG_6705DSC_4033

The boys each got a copy of The Jesus Storybook Bible.  It’s awesome!   IMG_6707Since both sets of grandparents were in town for the dedication, they blessed us by joining us in front of the church body to pray with us.

Jasper struggled to hang out up front for as long as the ceremony continued, but he hung in there.

DSC_4040This was not a good hair day for Jasper.  So sad!  Unfortunately with everything going on the night before (Benjamin’s birthday), we did not get a chance to trim his hair.

We were blessed to have not only family members in attendance but also our good friends and local support team: Andy and Kathryn Rouse, Mark and Teri Burchfield and John, Debbie, Ellie and Luke Brandes.  Luke, Ellie and Jasper are buddies.  IMG_6714
