Sportball!

This fall Jasper and Drew have been taking a parent-toddler class together called Sportball. It's an 8-week class aimed at introducing young kids to the fundamentals of basic sports. Jasper's teacher is Coach Shannon, and he likes her very much. I'm told Jasper is the star pupil and is regularly called on to demonstrate for the class. The other parents tell Drew they think it's because he's a natural and because he actually listens to directions. Either way, I think it's great.

On the weekend of Benjamin's birthday party, Papa was able to go with Jasper and Drew to Sportball. He took these photos for us. So far Jasper has learned fundamentals of golf, volleyball, hockey, football and soccer. By far hockey was the least interesting to him. (phew!)

There is lots of bonding time for Jasper and Drew at Sportball which was one of our objectives for the class - good time with daddy!

Like daddy, like son.

Not only do they work on sport fundamentals, but they work on athletic fundamentals, too. Here Jasper is working on his bob and weave technique.

This has become one of Jasper's favorite things. Drew rolls this ring, and Jasper has to run and catch it before it hits the ground. Drew has gotten to the point where he can roll it really fast and Jasper will run fast to track it down before it falls.

Jasper can get a little OCD on us at times. I imagine the balls were not staying in the right place for him.

Uncle Jon and Miss Kate were able to catch the last part of Sportball (after having pancakes with us). Jasper loved having them there!

Uncle Jon got into the fun of playing on the playground equipment with Jasper.

After playtime was over, Jasper wanted Miss Kate to sit next to him in the car on the ride home. Since Jon and Kate had to run out to the airport to pick up Grandma and Grandpa Gant, Drew let Jasper ride with Jon and Kate - which he loved!!! (Kate is Jasper's latest crush.)
