singing in the rain

After a week in May of high temperatures, Saturday morning we were blessed with a cool rain. After pancakes, Jasper and daddy went outside to have some fun. This gave Jasper yet another opportunity to wear his McQueen rainboots. He loved checking out the stream that runs across our driveway and fills the usually dry creekbed. He loved splashing in the puddles and the mud, and he had a good time walking through the creekbed like a jungle explorer.

here he is, stayin' alive!

This umbrella (from my alma mater) is bigger than Jasper, and it was funny to see how he had to work to manipulate it. Once he did, he thought he was pretty cool!

As the day went on, the rain kept falling and so did the temperature. It was 65 degrees and raining at the time of Annabella's birthday party. I did not bring Jasper's bathing suit with me, but when the slip and slide was brought out in the light rain and Jasper saw all the kids running around, he looked at them, looked and me and then in the middle of the backyard just pulled down his pants. So, he ran around in his diaper for a while until daddy could come with his bathing suit. Of course, the minute he stopped running around he would shiver and his lips would turn blue. But despite all that, he had a blast! After playing for a little while, he stopped in the middle of the yard (again), found me visually among all the parents and called out, "mommy, this is fun!!!"
And yes - I went out and bought a slip and slide the next week.
