Tall Timber Days Parade

The first weekend in August in Grand Rapids, MN is Tall Timber Days. There are lumberjack demonstrations, arts & crafts and ... a parade. Last summer the Marble Centennial parade was really impressive. We went into town from the cabin expecting good things. Any parade is an excuse to show off the rescue equipment. About that, Jasper is never disappointed.

Here is the Grand Rapids aerial ladder truck. And, yes ... the temp on the bank sign does say 59 degrees! It was gray and chilly.

Oh the excitement of a young boy who LOVES trucks. Candy? What's that? He could care less.

Generally he's so enamoured by the trucks that he cannot do anything else - not even wave for real.

We weren't sure how Benjamin would do with the loud noises the trucks make, but as you can see ... he's just fine. Eating out of his second chance pocket again.

Most kids up north go to parades for the candy. Linnea and Karin have been to enough parades to know the drill, and they were very polite and shared. as you can see, they also had enough time to pose for Uncle Drew. The tall timber days parade was a bit of a disappointment. It had nothing on Marble, and if you can believe it - there wasn't a single logging type truck in the entire parade. crazy!

Benjamin and Papa.

The Shively girls in action.

Checking out their loot.

Here we are - all lined up in a row.

Benjamin thinks parades are fun!
